Train The Trainer – Improving IH Exposure Judgments

NOTE:  This Workshop is limited to academic faculty and current students in IH training programs.


This workshop will enhance attendee skills and knowledge on techniques for analyzing data in the exposure assessment process while providing tools, tips, and techniques for teaching those skills to others.  Participants will be introduced to a package of presentation slides, exercises and data analysis tools that they can take and incorporate into exposure assessment courses at their industrial hygiene training institutions. Experienced instructors will teach participants on the use of the statistical tools while providing background on the teaching materials along with suggestions for their use in teaching others.

Value Added:

PowerPoint slides and a software program for performing Bayesian decision analysis calculations will be provided.



The session is limited to academic faculty and current students of IH training programs. Attendees must bring a laptop. Note that the software is designed for Windows-based PCs; it will not run on a Mac without an emulator.


Learning Aids:

Participants must bring a laptop.



Upon completion, the participant will be able to:

  • Use techniques for analyzing data in the exposure assessment process.
  • Integrate statistical tools into their own IH academic programs.
  • Use the course materials to train others.

  • Strategies for improving judgments when monitoring data are available
  • Use of the Bayesian Decision Analysis Tool
  • Strategies for improving judgments when no monitoring data are available
